Author Guideline Check
Author guidelines vary widely by publisher and journal, and these guidelines are detailed and often difficult to navigate and understand. With our Author Guideline Check service, a ProEditor will check to ensure that your translated or edited manuscript agrees with the specific formatting requirements of the journal to which you intend to submit your article.
Examples of Items Checked in an Author Guideline Check
- Information required in the cover letter
- Information required on the title page (running title, corresponding author, affiliations, keywords, word count, etc.)
- Word count limit or required structure of the abstract Length and structure (subheadings) of the main text
- Additional sections in the main text (IRB review, conflict of interests, author contributions, etc.)
- Formatting of references within the main text (parentheses/brackets, superscript numerals, etc.)
- Formatting of the reference list
- Format and file type of tables and figures
- Format of the titles and legends of tables and figures
With the Author Guideline Check option we check your manuscript for these items listed in the author guidelines and report on any items that are missing or inadequate. However, this option does not include any editing services.
The following are not included in the Author Guideline Check
- Adjusting the layout of, converting file types of, or creating new tables and figures, etc.
- Reformatting of all references
- Word count reduction (This service is not a part of this option, but is available at an additional price)
